Why The Roadside Tavern needed a new website
Peter Jackson, award-winning chef and former executive chef at The Armada Hotel, took over The Roadside Tavern, Lisdoonvarna, Co. Clare. With the kitchen and bar in full swing, the next step was to build a stylish website that best represents Peter’s passion for food and the quality of food people can expect.
A look at the finished website
The approach taken
During our initial conversation Peter and Oisín discussed the key elements needed on the new website along with other important factors. These included:
- Increasing bookings
- Showcasing the food
- A fast turnaround time
Increasing bookings
The number one objective was to drive bookings to the restaurant via telephone. If you visit The Roadside Tavern website mobile you will notice the make a booking option is included in the navigation menu.
When a visitor clicks this button on their mobile their phone will immediately give them the option to call the restaurant. On desktop, the phone number is also included in the navigation to allow the visitor to quickly find the number.
Showcasing the food
Peter already had a large bank of photos and a logo designed. This gave West Coast Web a large selection of food images to add to the website. As you navigate the site you will notice an emphasis on local produce.
A fast turnaround time
Peter had a large repository of images and an existing logo. Oisín gave Peter a text template for each page which was filled out and returned in a couple of days. This meant the website could be finished faster with the first draft available in one week.
After review, Peter provided some feedback which was quickly implemented and the site was given a final review by Peter. Now the site was ready to go live, a process that takes a few hours.
What was achieved
Within a short amount of time, The Roadside Tavern went from relying on social media for their online presence to having a modern looking website that drives table bookings and showcases the high quality food served in the restaurant.
Extras
We provide a number of services for our clients on every project free of charge. The Roadside Tavern was no different. As part of the project we also:
- added “on-page” search engine optimisation to improve visibility in Google searches
- tuned the website for faster loading speeds
- setup Google Analytics
Project duration
Given that images already existed, branding work was previously done and Peter filled out the content templates and returned them in two days, the first draft of the website was ready within a week.
